Fringe Organisers on the Royal Mile were scammed into believing that a new French Starlet, Bernadette Soubirous, was appearing on the Royal Mile.

Chauffeured onto the Mile, the celebrity was in fact Bethan Morris of St. Ives Youth Theatre who plays Bernadette in Vision at Sweet ECA. In getting clearance to drive onto the Mile, local Police Officer, Vision’s Artistic Director that he recognised Bernadette and thought he’d seen one of her movies!

Mobbed by fans, from the Vision cast, the Fringe’s newest star was quickly ushered into Starbucks who apologised for keeping her waiting as they hadn’t been told of her imminent arrival.

Vision tells the story of Bernadette of Lourdes like you’ve never heard it before. On a quiet road in southern France, two teenagers are attempting to hitch a ride to the coast. Instead, they stumble on the town of Lourdes and are forced to spend a night there. They are stunned by the buzz of the place.

Set in a Lourdes Bar, the dramatic and tragic life of Bernadette is played out in front of the hitchhikers through 17 rock/pop songs, taking the audience on an exciting journey that incorporates ballads and jazz, comedy and pathos.

The company will be performing Vision at 2.30pm at Sweet ECA until 15th August. For more information, please visit www.sweet-uk.net or www.siyt.co.uk).
