Suspected Plague Carrier stoned by Mob in St Ives! Shoppers in St Ives were treated to a reminder of how suspected plague carriers were treated in the 1660's. Cast members from SIYT's production Eyam re-enacted the mobbing of a woman that they believed may have been carrying the dreaded infection. She appeared on Bridge Street only to be greeted by shouts of fear and abuse. Hounded onto Market Hill, she was 'stoned' in front of bemused shoppers. Missed it ? See the Video clips on the Eyam webpage |

Summer comes early to the Corn Exchange The Corn Exchange in St Ives was filled with the sweet smell of freshly mown grass in March 2010. Not though any scientific wizardry but from a real lawn installed inside the Corn Exchange just for the play. A special membrane ensured that the lawn stays fresh while the Corn Exchange remained clean and dry during performances of SIYT's stunning production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Photographs from the production can be seen on the AMND webpage |

Journey's End SIYT's run of the trench classic may be over but the company and audience have vivid memories of it's performance, especially the very special Armistice Night show and our own Festival of Remembrance on Saturday 13th November. SIYT raised nearly a £1,000 for Help for Heroes and the Royal British Legion. The company now begin preparations for A Midsummer Night's Dream in March. |

So What's it All About ? Established in 2001 & based in the picturesque riverside market town of St. Ives, Cambridgeshire UK, SIYT is made up of around 60 students aged 11-17, (30 boys & 30 girls) with the aim of providing people in secondary education with the opportunity to develop performance skills and to gain experience of all aspects of stage craft. This includes the support of performances through stage-management, technical support, marketing, costumes & make-up - young people are encouraged to develop the self-confidence and personal qualities that will sustain them through life. Team-working, self-respect & respect for others are key to our ethos. As well as developing performance skills & rehearsing, we organise trips to amateur & professional productions as well as educational visits to encourage understanding of the issues behind the work performed. |

Funding Myth - We still need your donations and support Contrary to popular belief, SIYT receives no regular funding from local councils, schools or any external source. We don't pay salaries to anyone involved with SIYT, they are all volunteers. To survive, we rely on donations, ticket & programme sales from our productions. Just by buying a ticket, you help us survive. |
