Newsletter and Rehearsals

January Newsletter

This year promises new challenges and experiences. We very much hope to be performing in the Corn Exchange, the prospect of two one act plays in the Spring (Lord of the Flies and Bang!Bang! You're Dead) and a musical production in the Summer.

Contact Details

To keep members, parents and carers up to date with what's going on, it's vital that we have your email addresses. If you don't keep us up to date with your contact details, we can't keep in touch with you. Every email update we send out get's bounced back from about 20 addresses - if you change your details, please tell Jane at the Thursday meeting or drop a mail through to info@siyt.co.uk

It's Showtime!

SIYT's first performance of the new decade will be the Cabaret Evening at the Burgess Hall on Friday 29th January. Doors open at 7pm and this informal social evening is open to members families. SIYT members provide the entertainment and the evening provides the opportunity for them to perform pieces they have chosen from a wide range of sources, inevitably there's some improvisation and a preview of our upcoming shows.

There will be an interval during which there's a pot luck supper to which everyone contributes by bringing a plate or two of their favorite food to share with everyone (as long as everyone's keeps their hands off Jonathan's White Chocolate Cheesecake as it's all mine!).

Members need to be at the Cabaret Rehearsal on Sunday 24th January at Braodleas - auditions will start at 2.30pm and all members will be needed for rehearsals that will then run until 5pm.

Finally, a reminder to all SIYT members that the meeting on Thursday 28th January will be in the Burgess Hall not Westfields School and that this meeting will start at 5.30pm not 7.00pm. Members will also need to be at the Burgess Hall for 6pm on Friday 29th January.

Help Needed

As we rapidily approach our Spring productions, we desparately need volunteers to sell advertising space for our production programmes. This isn't as daunting as it sounds and the funds raised make a significant contribution to our production costs. Interested ? Please drop an email through to info@siyt.co.uk or grab a committee member at the Cabaret Evening.

Annual General Meeting

A reminder that our AGM will be on Thursday 7th January at 6.15pm in Westfield School, all parents and members of the SIYT are invited to attend. There will be light refreshments will be available. The agenda is as follows:

Fundraising

Good News - SIYT is more financially secure than Lehmann Brothers, but that's still not a great position! We need people that can help us with fundraising - we're not talking about the odd jumble sale, we desparately need some new ideas that can radically change our finacial position and spread the net on which we draw. Have contacts, have Ideas - Get Involved! Please drop us a line if you can make a difference.

Volunteers

Although SIYT is a limited company and a registered charity, it does not pay salaries or fees to anyone that helps to run the group - that includes Jonathan and Brian. The mad fools that you will see tearing their hair out during production week, do it all for free. Any help that anyone can offer is gratefully received - that might be in taking an ad in our programme, helping with front of house at a performance or dismantling the set after a show. All parents are welcome to help in any way they can - it's not a closed shop.

You’ve got our number – Why don’t you use it ?

07773 885609 - This is the dedicated telephone number for you to contact SIYT on Thursday Nights or Rehearsal Days to advise us of any delay in getting there or non attendance ~  please use this number.

Dates for the Diary

Cabaret Evening - Friday 29th January

Lord of the Flies & Bang! Bang! You're Dead - 9th - 12th March, Black Theatre, Burgess Hall

Finally…… Thanks for your support for our members and SIYT.
