It's been a busy but successful summer for SIYT. Following our well-received production of 'Tom Sawyer' at the Burgess Hall, the 'Vision' preview show at Hinchingbrooke Performing Arts Centre was a near sell-out and it's run in Edinburgh drew in audiences over 7 times higher than the average Fringe Theatre audience. This promises new challenges and experiences. We very much hope to be performing in the Corn Exchange, the prospect of two one act plays in the Spring and a musical production in the Summer. |

Two committee members have stepped down - Helen Mitcham and Jane Fabisz. Jane has looked after membership and Helen has played a major part in bringing our finances into good order and keeping them there. Many Thanks for your support. |

Support your local theatre groups! St Ives Music and Drama Society (SIMADS) are staging 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum', which is a musical set in Roman times and written by great Stephen Sondheim, the composer of 'Sweeney Todd'. If you are unfamiliar with the show, and are old enough to remember it, think of Frankie Howerd and “Up Pompeii” – it should give you a basic idea! It is most definitely a comedy, and indeed the one well known song from the show is “Comedy Tonight”. The dialogue is hilarious. The songs are both fantastic and funny! The show is on at the Burgess Hall from 14th-17th October. Find out more at www.simads.co.uk |

Good News - SIYT is more financially secure than Lehmann Brothers, but that's still not a great position! We need people that can help us with fundraising - we're not talking about the odd jumble sale, we desparately need some new ideas that can radically change our finacial position and spread the net on which we draw. Have contacts, have Ideas - Get Involved! Please drop us a line if you can make a difference. |

Although SIYT is a limited company and a registered charity, it does not pay salaries or fees to anyone that helps to run the group - that includes Jonathan and Brian. The mad fools that you will see tearing their hair out during production week, do it all for free. Any help that anyone can offer is gratefully received - that might be in taking an ad in our programme, helping with front of house at a performance or dismantling the set after a show. All parents are welcome to help in any way they can - it's not a closed shop. |
